Description
So this is my official first shot of a waterscape on this cold season.
The skies are getting better for photography, with some interesting cloud formations, but the cold and the rain are here too. I had lucky today, because it didn´t rain near my area so decided to go out and do some clicks.
It was very cold today, and near the coast with the huge waves crashing against the rocks and spraying water all over the place the cold could be felt even more.
Technique:
The sky was great almost everywhere near the location I decided do shoot.
Found this little beach, with round rocks instead of sand, and with some interesting spots to produce a nice composition.
Wrapped my camera in a plastic bag protection I´ve made to use every time I go out shooting near the sea, picked up my tripod and there I went.
Opened the tripod at its minimum to achieve a low angle, evolving the viewer within the atmosphere of the place.
Used a ND8 to darken the sky, increasing the tonal range in the photo.
Used a shutter release cable to avoid blurring the rocks clicking on the shutter button. With so many details in the image, it would be very easy to mess it up.
Post-processing:
Used PSCS3 - Levels, contrast, and Unsharp Mask.
Manually blend 2 slightly different exposures, the one you see on the exif and one 3 stops brighter. This way I got more details in the cliff in the right side.
Some areas can be pretty blurred but it is not from bad post-processing or anything, its from water drops falling down my UV filter from all the waves crashing those little rocks further on.
