I dedicate this one to those who one moment in their lives thought to end it all...
________________________________________________ <No, this is not a photo manipulation> I was thinking of doing this one for a couple of months. But I didn´t knew were. I had to find a good spot that could somehow bring the dark feeling to the photo and the same time make the model pop up from the various distractions around her. Many of my photos are taken in Guincho-Portugal, a beautiful place and with a lot of waterscape potencial. But I wanted to explore a diferent location this time. I went to Google Maps and started to look for another place, a place that could gather all the caracterisitcs I wanted to the photo. And were did I found that place you ask... Guincho again A little tiny beach at the end of the main road. Far away from the main and more known beaches. I had to imagine that my tiny fiat punto was a Jeep Cherokee and made it pass thru rocks, holes and hiper dusty roads. ___________________________________________ Technique: I got there about 7:00PM and only started to shoot at 20:50... 21:00. I had to wait for the sun to go down so I could increase the shutter speed to 3 secconds. I used a Hama tripod and a cloth to cover the filter and lens from the water splashes (waves crashing rocks) between shots. I used a Cokin GND 8 to darken the sky and let me gain more tonal range. Always use some kind of protection for your camera and lens when shooting in this kind of locations. I use a normal plastic bag around the camera and a UV filter. The Sigma 10-20 helped me to crop the photo into a square and still catch both rocks and sky. Unfortunatly the high humidity and tiny water drops on the filter made the photo a bit blurred on some spots (you can easily see 3 water drops, two on top of the bigger rocks on the left and right side, and on top of the models hair. The image is quite brighter on those spots . But for the main objective, and transmit the feeling of the tittle it´s good enought I think. To permit to increase the shutter speed, I selected ISO 100 and f22. Post processing on PSCS2 - B&W conversion, levels, increased a little bit the sharpening. Introduced some vignetting on the 4 corners. Hope you like it. Hope I could manage to transmit the tittle idea with this "click". ____________________________________________ The work contained in my gallery is copyright © Filipe Mateus. All rights reserved.
