Artist's Comments

Went to drink some coffee this afternoon and I brought my camera with me. It was about 18:30 so I decided to shoot some sunset photos. Nothing planned, didn´t had new ideas... just to catch some fresh air and do some "clicks". I took some normal sunset photos, with the oranges and yellows, but I wanted to try some long exposure stuff because I didn´t shoot some long exposure photography a long time ago.

I waited for the sun so set, so I could abuse the shutter speed value. I used 15 seconds shutter speed, and used a normal ND8 filter to darken the sky. I remembered and easy trick so the filter could not be detected on the photo, and it was shaking it for the entire 15 seconds. Just a little bit between the sky and the watter. This way it worked as a grad ND8 and perhaps even better. My tripod was only 1/3 opened (to capture the rocks closely and capture more detail from them) and the water was passing under it , risking to get my camera wet. I used the self timer option because I don´t have a IR remote control, or a cable, so taking about 40 photos and waiting 10 seconds each time I wanted to shoot something was a bit of a headache.

But I think the effort was worth it, the long exposure gave me natural strong color tones, and the filter made a good job on the sky.

Hope you like it ;)
